If there’s anything Beyoncé has taught us in her 25+ years of being a bad*ss vocalist, it’s that women rock. Which is why we came up with an obligatory ‘girl power’ playlist every bridesmaid can jam to before sending their BFF off to get hitched to the man of their dreams. Sure, you could play top hits like “Uptown Funk” at your bachelorette party, but wouldn’t blasting “Run the World (Girls)” be SO much more fun for all of your independent gals? After all, this is your last go-round as a single lady (technically). So embrace your womanhood and belt out these tunes with the girls who have supported you throughout the years, or as Taylor Swift would say, your #squad.
You’ll find current hits on our ‘girl power’ playlist, like Demi Lovato’s “Confident,” Rihanna’s “Work,” and Ariana Grande’s “Focus.” As much as we adore our current feminist artists, we can’t forget about the women of the past who instilled in us a sense of confidence with their addictive lyrics. Obviously this includes Aretha Franklin’s “Respect,” Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!” and the Spice Girls massive hit, “Wannabe.” On a side note, we really hope your hubby-to-be has gotten with your friends (whatever that happens to mean).
Now sit down, press play, and turn the volume up on high. Being a woman has never felt more liberating.
