It’s 2015, and wedding gift-giving has definitely changed considerably in the last few years. The sky is truly the limit for how to register for wedding gifts and what to do with them. Still, regardless of the way you end up registering, many wedding guests are opting to write a check or give cash as a present, which poses the question: “What do we do with all of this money from our wedding?” For those who aren’t shopaholics and need a little help spending (or holding on to) all of that cold, hard cash, we’ve come up with a few ideas that will help you spend cash gifts you receive.

Take a date night couples class
Cooking, ballroom dancing, photography classes — the opportunities are endless! Find a local culinary school that offers cooking classes or perhaps take ballroom dancing lessons before the big day to get yourself in tiptop shape (and ready for that first dance). Plan a monthly date night that includes one of these “learn something new” classes, and you’ll never be bored!

Put it toward your wedding expenses
Wedding planning got you (and your bank account) down? It’s perfectly acceptable to use the money you make from your wedding to pay off any outstanding vendor fees.

Go on your dream honeymoon
Always wanted to go to Bora Bora or the Amalfi Coast? Call your travel agent stat because there’s a registry site that can help you get to paradise. Newlywish is a registry site that allows brides and grooms to register for honeymoon experiences and other cash funds as well as traditional (but locally-sourced) gifts. This month, Newlywish is having a special signup that for all registries created today, December 16, to December 31, will have the low credit card processing rate of 2.35% of their guests’ cash purchase (in most registries it’s over 2.8% percent)!

Hire a cleaning service
Hate cleaning? Tired of vacuuming and arguing over who will scrub the toilets every week? Hire a cleaning service for your first month — or better yet — year of marriage. You’ll save yourself a few disagreements and trips to the nail salon!

Save it for a house down payment
There’s no reason that you have to spend your money right away. Open a new joint savings account with your hubby and put the majority of the money in the account. Having it separate from your other accounts will be a great way to not touch it until you’re ready to get serious about purchasing a home!

Plan a post-honeymoon romantic weekend getaway
With all the wedding and honeymoon fanfare and excitement, post-wedding depression can definitely strike. It’s real, people! Keep the fun and planning going with a post-honeymoon getaway planned a few months out (from when you return from your big trip). Think ski weekend, wine tasting weekend, spa getaway, or outdoor adventure — it’ll be a great way to keep you pumped about events after the wedding (besides being happily married, of course!).

Enjoy a monthly wine, beer, or cheese subscription service
There are tons of subscription services that cater to the beverage and food connoseiours — discuss with your spouse which type you’d like to purchase, and voila! You’ll have one date night a month covered when you spend a night sampling new Gruyère or pinot noir.
